Smelling x86-64 Macs...
I fell from a horse today... that's not strange. Twice... well that had to happen someday. But then something strange happened: Apple offered me a job. Seeking ACPI & BIOS person, guess what that means :-).

I've been hearing these rumors for a long time... but if they're offering you a job.

Hmmm, I guess we're about to see it really happen. This should be very very interesting.

It means you won't get it because you've just blogged about it

If I were you, I'd make this friends only.. Apple doesn't like this sort of thing.

But I am rather interested in what the future might hold from Apple ;)

I keep my promisses so no, I did not sign any NDA (or anything else). In fact, it came in unencrypted mail, and did not ask me not to talk about it. (i'd probably honour that, too).

No, this is probably not about ipod or similar. Only PCs are infected with uglyness known as "ACPI BIOS".

I think it would be naïve to think that just because you haven't signed an NDA, talking about a job offer for a strategically interesting job with Apple isn't going to be something which might effect that offer, if Apple found out about. Apple moving to Intel has long been rumoured.. them making moves to hiring someone who does ACPI/BIOS is.. well, interesting :)

I'm sorry, I know I'm some random. I just don't want you to get in trouble. Apple has done things like recall and remanufacture 20000 computers to remove ATi video cards because ATi mentioned ahead of time that Apple would be using their cards in this unreleased computer...

(I'm not actually entirely random, I'm a co-worker of dagobah/bernard b.)

Dude, this story already broke yesterday, and by Monday - long before his interview - Steve Jobs will be telling the world about it. The lid's already off, all the "cool kids" know what's going on. So I wouldn't worry about him getting in trouble.

And for what it's worth, the rumors are true, and just about everybody's assumptions about how this is going to work are wrong. See ya Monday.

Could also be for something new. Maybay an 'Ipod Jumbo' that needs PDA features...

Don't talk about the club.

Your job offer has been revoked.

I concur with anonymous. One of the basic rules about job or salary negotiations; you don't talk about them until both sides are satisfied that its a done deal.

Likely, if Apple did actually offer a job, they may see of this as an indication of good judgment and discretion, even if they did not make a non-disclosure request. I do not think there is a way of requiring someone to agree to an NDA at the first contact. On the other hand, a posting like this is sure to garner the author major international attention.

apple for most of the time had a team of people working on a possible move to intel platform, as a big backup plan. yet recent rumors all scream that in fact apple will try to do that for real this time.

but we all would know very soon.
